RESIDENTS in Kampung Sri Aman, Coalfield, in Sungai Buloh have asked the Selangor government to issue them land titles instead of trying to relocate them, reported Malaysia Nanban.
The residents said Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had promised them titles within three months if PKR won power in Selangor during the last general election.
Khalid who met the residents in Sungai Buloh yesterday said the previous state government had entered into a joint venture with a private developer in 2001 to develop the area and therefore the land titles could not issued as he had promised.
He said matter was taken to court and, on Oct 25, the court ruled in favour of the residents.
He said the state government had three proposals to build houses for the residents, develop the area into a housing estate or issue land titles.
He said the views of the residents would be sought before a final decision was made.
